Geni.Energy partnered with Acacia to install a 100kW/500kWh community battery in Narrabri, NSW — and to operate it in the wholesale and FCAS markets on behalf of the community.
The Challenge
Geni.Energy needed a partner who could buy and sell electricity for the battery on the wholesale market, operate the battery connection point, and monitor and control its performance every five minutes.
The Solution
Acacia installed the 100kW/500kWh battery in Narrabri and operates it via the PowerXchange platform, acting as the financially responsible market participant with AEMO.
The Impact
The battery's value is optimised across revenue and cost streams every five minutes. Revenue is generated whenever the battery discharges — maximising the value of the asset and providing the community with a pathway away from fossil fuels.
