BESS

Hepburn Energy Co-op operates Australia's first community-owned wind farm. Acacia added a 2MW/5MWh battery alongside the existing 4.1MW wind farm and integrated the site into the wholesale electricity market — bringing the cost of energy down for the community and unlocking new revenue from the battery.

The Challenge

Hepburn needed a partner who could add battery storage to its existing wind farm, integrate the combined output into the National Electricity Market, and settle the trades — bringing the value back to community consumers.

The Solution

Acacia installed a 2MW/5MWh battery alongside the existing wind farm and acts as the financially responsible market participant for the site with AEMO. The PowerXchange platform integrates wind and battery output into the wholesale market in real time.

The Impact

The community is now participating in the wholesale market — bringing the cost of energy down for local consumers and unlocking new revenue from the battery.

Acacia Energy was versatile and innovative in their offering, allowing us to participate in the wholesale market with confidence and bring down the cost of energy for the community.
